Nothing says, "I'm 31 and fabulous" like gold slingback wedges! Then, on Monday night Michael and I went on a date. We decided to try something new, which turned out not to be the best idea for a birthday dinner.
We went to the new Zupas in AF. (The shadows on our faces are a little weird in this pic, but we were just trying to capture the occasion.) Here's my review of Zupas--Soups B+, Salads and Sandwiches, C-. But, I don't care where I eat as long as I get the chance to dress up, have my husband dress up, and go out without kids. (Oh wait, that's not true, I'd be seriously upset if I had to eat at McDonald's for my birthday. )
Here's a close-up of my cute husband with his "old lady." Yes, I'm older than my husband and I just have to be okay with it. But, there's no denying that the years (and babies) are starting to show on my face (and on my boobs! ;) Oh well, the great thing about being 31 is that I now know how to use make-up and fashion to both minimize and maximize--if ya know what I mean!
I don't mean to be ungrateful, because I love my husband very much. He is so great about being kind and thoughtful daily. He always helps and never complains. But, special occasions are not his forte. I think since he went out on a date with me on Monday he thinks he's covered. But, am I so selfish for wanting to make the day of my birthday a little bit special? I mean, 09-09-09 seems like such an interesting day, it seems like something awesome should happen. Well, it's 2pm, and I'm not exactly holding my breath.
My little sister is coming over to make me a birthday dinner, and her food is definitely awesome. But, I'm still feeling a little sad that this ONCE IN A MILLENIUM day, is going to go out with more of a whimper than a bang. Oh well, Happy birthday to me! At least I have facebook to help get me a little attention! :)

Happy Birthday Tiffany!
I totally understand about wanted your husband to do something special- Jermie is like your husband- He told me he was getting tickets for a play, then didn't do ANYTHING else for my birthday (incidentally, I ended up buying the tickets and arranging the babysitter)- I keep waiting for him to do something great, but then I keep ending up disappointed. Maybe I should lower my standards, but I just keep hoping... I feel like I'm so easy to please. Anyway, this is a really long comment- sorry. I hope you have a great day!
PS I agree with you on Zupas. It was okay- you should try the Blue Lemon in Highland- a little pricey, but FABULOUS!!
Happy Birthday! Old lady, indeed. Whatever. We have so much in common, my friend. I am also older than my husband (by 15 days) and the years and babies are definitely showing on my boobs. Of all places, really. But at least they are under cover most of the time. Boobs are so overrated. Hee hee.
So glad you got some fabulous shoes and a day of shopping and a night out with your hubbie. If it makes you feel any better...my husband was out of the country for my birthday. Well, happy 9-9-09 nonetheless. You never know what the evening may have in store for you. Yummy food at the very least. Love ya!
Happy happy birthday!! Anniversaries and birthdays tend to disappoint, except this year my husband whisked me away on a romantic trip to Dallas for my birthday! Don't worry, we went to the BYU-Oklahoma football game the following day. I always used to think somehow I should be like, idolized on my birthday and that Jason should just spend the entire day telling me how sensational and darling I am. What I usually get is a nice little tushie squeeze and a wink. So, I've just decided not to expect monumental things on the big day, and I have actually enjoyed my birthdays a lot more.
Tiffany you are so awesome. I love your personality. You are so cute. I hope your day turned out totally awesome.
Happy Birthday Tiffy! I just love you! So glad that you got to do some fun things for your birthday. Love the shoes! (I seriously need you and Amy to come give me some fashion advice just like in college!)
Happy Birthday Tiffany. Those are fabulous shoes. I'm older than my hubby too! We are very similar. Too bad I'm not as fabulous as you though.
