Only 7 Years? It seems like a lifetime!

Today is our 7th anniversary!

I can't believe it has already been 7 years. It went by so quickly. When did life speed up so much?!! Our seven years of marriage have been as long as both my high school and college years combined, and it went by so much faster!

Even though it has flown by in a flash, after 7 years of marriage it also seems like we've spent a whole lifetime together. Life doesn't really even begin until you get married. You really don't become yourself, completely, until you get married. At least that was the case for me. I feel so blessed to have found such an amazing man who wanted to spend eternity with me (and all my crazy!!)

He could have chosen someone much prettier, (or definitely someone tanner), and I know there are plenty of babes out there who could have made him really great breakfasts (which I don't). . .but he picked me anyway!

Most people don't know Mike very well, not even my family, because he is pretty closed off and pretty anti-social. He doesn't let people in very easily, in fact, he keeps almost everyone at arms length. I don't know how I got so lucky that he actually put down his bridge and let me come over to the "Island that is Michael." But, I just want to say to all of you who know me and haven't ever really gotten to know him, that the last 7 years have definitely shown me that marrying him was the best decision I ever made. . .and just meeting him was truly the greatest thing that has happened in my entire life!

Mike is an awesome husband. And I have fallen in love with him more and more as I've watched him be an incredible Dad to our two sons. I think he is so sexy when he's tucking the kids in bed and singing them bedtime songs!

The truth is, today there probably won't be any flowers or chocolates or romantic, candlelit dinners. But, my husband is patient and kind every day, he helps take care of the kids every day, he brings me a cherry coke at lunch every day, and he is willing to do anything I ask (and I have asked for a lot from him lately.) I mean, what better celebration of our marriage is there than that!!

Broken Camera

I broke my digital camera about a month ago, so I don't have any current pictures to post or any fun kid anecdotes. So, I will start my blog with something cute I saw on another blog:

What was I doing 10 years ago?

I had just finished my freshman year at Ricks College. It was such a wonderful experience! Despite all the roommate drama, I still wish I could've gone back to Ricks for a second year. If it had been a 4 year school back then, I would've done my degree there. I started at BYU in August of '98, and I never loved it as much as Ricks!

What was I doing 5 years ago?

I was hot five years ago! You will all have to forgive my vanity, but I just love any excuse to show off those pics. Five years ago I was working as the coordinator for Utah County Rape Crisis. I was also dabbling in modeling a little. But, 5 years ago this week was when everything in my life changed forever. I found out I was pregnant with Gavin! I only worked with Rape Crisis for a few more months after that (because the morning sickness became so debilitating) and I haven't had a real job since.

Also, becoming pregnant with Gavin was the beginning of the end of my "hotness!" It's sad, but true. Since I've had children I've never been quite back in modeling form. And now I'm almost 30. . .so I think that ship has sailed! Oh well, at least I have a few pretty pictures to stroke my ego every now and then.

What was I doing one year ago?

Michael had just finished building a treehouse and play area in our backyard. . .which turned out to be the one of the greatest investments of time and money he has ever done. Our backyard has been used non-stop ever since by Gavin, Nick, and lots and lots of friends and cousins!

Oh, also last year this week Mom & Dad returned from their mission! Yeah! It has been so wonderful ever since. We only live a few blocks away, and so they are such an integral part of our everyday life.

Which brings me to--What was I doing yesterday?

Gavin & Nick had a water fight/water party at Grandma & Grandpa Top's house with their cousins Caleb, Alyssa, & Eli (Justin's kids.) I also spent a few hours in bed, struggling with pregnancy pains and problems. But, I'm feeling a little better everyday and I hope it gets better, rather than worse. That is a topic for another post!
